Cutline Filter

Features

Cutline Filter is a new multiplatform, stylized screening and woodcut effect as an Adobe Photoshop-compatible Plug-in.

The development of the Cutline Filter was inspired by customer's requests to develop products that create an engraved effect made popular by the Wall Street Journal and Barnes & Noble.

After studying classic engravings and woodcuts, a unique line/dot combination screen was developed for the Cutline Filter. This screen replaces the grey tones in a photo or an illustration with black and white lines which may be cross hatched in the shadow areas as the lines become thicker or subtly break up into dots in the highlight areas as the lines become thinner. The result is a digital-engraving effect that emulates the classic old-world engraving techniques.

In addition to unique screening technology, Cutline Filter's stamper tool gives the digital artists, for the first time, flexibility in changing the engraving direction to emphasize the dimensions or contour of the object being digitally engraved.

Features:

• engraves selected parts of a grayscale photograph or illustration in 10 to 35 LPI range;

• customizable to higher or lower settings;

• uses a unique directional engraving tool (stamper) to set angles and curvature of engraved lines;

• effortlessly identifies and applies selected engraved lines to highlight, midtone, and shadow areas in an un-selected grayscale image;

• reinterprets gradients into engraved lines of varying width and shape;

• offers wavy and straight lines and ellipses, making it easy to affect an image with an elegant engraving or stunning woodcut effect; and

• impressively creates the look of classic-printing techniques following the contours of the image.
